Joseph Meyer, Chairman, Publisher and CEO
Joseph Meyer serves as Chairman and CEO of Observer Media, overseeing business development, strategy and acquisitions. He brings years of experience identifying growth opportunities and has lead the digital evolution of Observer Media.
In addition, Meyer serves as Managing Partner and Founder of Observer Capital, an investment firm focused on private equity and special situation investment opportunities. Prior to starting Observer Capital, Meyer had extensive investing experience at Elliott Management and MSD Capital, and serves as Chairman of SourceMedia.
Ken Kurson, Editor-In-Chief
Ken Kurson is the Editor-In-Chief of the New York Observer and Editorial Director of Observer Media. He has written for Esquire, Rolling Stone, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Money, Forbes and countless other publications.
Prior to joining Observer Media, Kurson co-authored Leadership with former Mayor of New York City Rudy Giuliani. Published in October 2002, Leadership became an immediate best seller, spending twenty-five weeks on the New York Times Bestseller List, including five weeks at Number One. Kurson was also the founder and editor-in-chief of Green magazine, which he sold to Nasdaq-listed financial publishing company Bankrate in 1999.
Matthew Sussberg, Chief Revenue Officer
Matthew Sussberg is Chief Revenue Officer of Observer Media. Matthew leads the sales and marketing efforts for the Observer brand, including our national digital media platform, Observer.com, and our print extension, New York Observer.
Matthew most recently served as VP of Sales and Marketing at Salon and brings years of experience in building digital media organizations. Prior to Salon, Matthew worked at Wenner Media and The Huffington Post in sales and marketing roles.
At Observer Media, Matthew will lead all of our revenue and business initiatives as well as helping develop our growth strategy.
Ron Lin, Chief Technology Officer
Ron Lin is Chief Technology Officer of Observer Media. Ron brings over a decade of software and technology experience, and will be responsible for expanding Observer’s digital media footprint. Prior to joining Observer, Ron was a co-founder and CTO of CARD.com, an online financial services provider. Throughout his career, Ron has been heavily involved in starting or growing early stage startups.
Ron has previously been an Entrepreneur-in-residence for Los Angeles-based TenOneTen Ventures, and he currently serves on the board of Omni Nano, a non-profit focused on nanotechnology education for high school students. Ron has a Ph.D. from UCLA in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and graduated from University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Computer Science.
