VP Finance & HR, Observer Media

Observer Media is currently hiring for a VP Finance & HR for its growing business. Observer Media is a diversified media, information and services company with interests in digital media such as Observer and Commercial Observer, and information platforms including Realgraph. As the VP Finance & Human Resources, you’ll report directly to the Company President and provide leadership support to the entire Executive Team. You will be responsible for developing the processes and procedures to improve our financial planning, human resources and overall operational efficiency. Whilst you are obsessed with the numbers, you are also obsessed with the employee experience, possessing high personal awareness and emotional intelligence, and are skilled at building relationships throughout an organization, coaching and advising leaders, and influencing key stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the President and Senior Management team to develop our strategic growth plan. This will include financial forecasts, budget planning, cash and investment management, team growth, other HR needs and setting company and team KPI’s;

  • You will also be responsible for cash management, forecasting, budgeting as well as other ad-hoc projects;

  • Supervise team responsible for all daily transaction processing, including: Accounts payable and cash disbursements, accounts receivable and cash receipts;

  • Help to build and define company culture and values and Work with functional leaders to develop people plans across the organization;

  • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality;

  • Oversee the work of Human Resources working closely with ADP and ensure operational processes are in place, including staff review processes, and overall benefit management;

  • Prepare the monthly management information pack with performance commentary;

  • Define and re-engineer the accounting policies and processes, and implement to ensure a more efficient month end close;

  • Function as a strategic business advisor to the senior management of each business unit or specialty group regarding key organizational and management issues;

  • Spearhead activities to minimize cost where possible;

Qualifications:

  • Ideally 10-15+ years of experience in progressive finance and revenue operations roles, with 5+ years leading HR/People Ops/Talent Acquisition teams in high growth companies;

  • You are an amazing communicator and fast learner;

  • Proven experience of relevant financial modelling, analysis and reporting experience with proven track record of forecasting and budgeting;

  • Understanding of the role of finance as a business partner and ability to influence the organization;

  • Working knowledge of Quick Books general ledger and planning systems;
    Track record of managing SalesForce analytics to forecast trends and outcomes is preferred;

  • Experience building and sustaining strong working relationships with senior operating executives, key stakeholders, operating teams and finance team members;
    Media industry experience preferred (Knowledge of subscriptions, programmatic,

  • Production/project accounting, licensing would be a distinct advantage);

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills;

  • Highly motivated, deadline orientated and able to multi-task;

  • Strong organisational skills with proven ability to manage own time and work to strict deadlines;

  • Finance or Accounting degree;

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills;
